I love layering for so many reasons, I am always cold, I love the fun mix of colors & styles, and lastly, I am always layering for modesty. I was sent some layering shells from Shell Sheli, and have been finding all sort of ways to make looks more modest.
The wonderful thing about shells is, if you get one what has sleeves, and a high neckline, you have a modest base. Because the shirt is 100% modest to begin with, anything you layer over it . I like that with sleeves, a high back & neckline, and a long enough hem, I really don't have to worry.
TO start:
Find a layering tee that is 100% modest to began with, look for something fitted (but not skin tight, long enough at the hem to cover your back and tuck in if wanted, has sleeves that cover your shoulder, and has a high neckline & a high back.
Here are some ideas to get you started!
1. Tank tops & tube tops
I LOVE layering tanks. It seems like they offer cuter embellished tanks than shirts, so it can be hard to find fun modest tops. I simply layer a layering shell (with colors that match, or for a pop, colors that contrast the tank) That way you have added sleeves, and you are covered without a jacket, try a short sleeve shell for summer months, or a cropped shell for less bulk.
2. Sleeves less tops:
Again, I find alot of my tops being sleeveless especially dresses. Sometimes even my "capped sleeves" are not long enough. So just layer underneath!
3. Low cut/ low back tops:
This is the worst thing to shop for, every shirt nowadays is almost always low cut (or immodest when bending over) I love a high neckline on my layering tees, so no matter how I move I know I am set.
4. Off the shoulder:
These tops are cozy and stylish, and can be worn with a layering shell to make it a bit more modest!
5. Lace, sheer, cut-out, or clingy:
Again, all you need to do fix these tops is simply start with any color layering tee. (if you want it to blend in with the look choose a nude, neutral or matching color. If you want to emphasis the layering choose a bright or contrasting color!
6. Too short/ cropped
If you shrunk your top in the washer, or have some fun poncho tops, layer under them with a shell to make sure you are covered.
Layering (whoever thought of the idea) is genius! I rarely ever leave the house without some sort of layering! Love all these looks!
